Howdy folks,

I recognize a few names here and I am saddened that such a meeting could not be under more brighter circumstances and that news of this tragedy has probably reached most of her friends now and others are probably looking for some understanding of this situation.

Following Saturday evening / Sunday morning I decided to contact the "Some Guy Using This Account" to find out if there was any correlation between her (Help) tag that went up early Sunday morning and this person.

Regrettably, I was shocked to find out from her close friend that she was currently in the hospital on Sunday. Many of us were actually playing with Kaylan over the course of Saturday evening in L4D or TF2 and she had been drinking most of the night. However, I doubt anyone could have connected the dots nor did Kaylan truly know what lonely and dark path she was wondering down. It was truly unexpected and utterly a tragic loss to her community of friends. One that we are all learning to grieve with in our own ways.

From what we know, she had finished talking with a few of us that night she went off to bed with dangerous levels of alcohol in her bloodstream and went unconscious. Sunday afternoon her roommate, Alexas found her and called 9-1-1. On Monday, according to her friend, the doctors were saying that she had serious complications from alcohol poisoning and she had not woken up and her brain activity was low. According to medical staff that he had heard that her chances were very slim. The doctors also believe this was intentional and not accidental, which makes this all the more shocking and tragic. I am not sure how to respond to this, as part of me wants to doubt this was done willingly by her.

He said he was arranging a flight to come to the hospital and that her brother, David, had come to meet her. I told him to let David (her brother) at the hospital to let her know that Keith (I) and Alex (Riggy) were praying for her recovery.

His candor left a very grim picture and I had hoped that the following morning I'd be greeted by cheerful news of her recovery. I was wrong.

“Keith, you there man?”
“Yeah, has she shown any improvements?”

Like a dagger piercing a fragile heart; “She didn't make it man, I just got the message from Alexas. I'm crying.” He then shared a very private e-mail from Alexus, of which some was edited for privacy of their family,

“Hey, the doctors said she was experiencing vomiting Monday morning but still remained unconscious. Later that afternoon she started to have irregular breathing and broke into seizures. David showed up Monday night and stayed with her. The doctor told me that some of her critical body functions started to give way. Tuesday morning at 11:19 am she stopped breathing. David and I were there, David was holding her hand when she went. Everyone is a wreck, especially me, you should come here as soon as you can.”

Her friend has asked all of us to keep her family and friends in their prayers, religious or not, and to reflect on her life in some manner. As soon as I got word from this, I had passed information on to Seren and Riggy, please do the same with any trusted friends of Kaylan. Currently Seren has a post up in the Gravity Bong forums for her wider audience of friends and acquaintances.
