Left off Chabon and Moore by mistake, read them. I'll have to check into the graphic novels. I don't read those as much anymore, but if it's on Kindle or anyone has the CBR's, I'll check it out.

Kavalier and Clay, Yiddish Policemen's Union and Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon. Also go out and grab Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli and Habibi by Craig Thompson, two incredible graphic novels.

Gaiman's kids shit is honestly really, really rad as well. The Graveyard Book and Coraline won't last you terribly long but they're A LOT of fun.

You might like Chris Moore. My favorites of his have been Lamb, Fool and Island of the Sequined Love Nun. Really fun, quick witted silliness with a surprising amount of depth, particularly regarding historical stuff.

Loved all of those by Moore, meant to have him on the list.

Ender's game and all the books that go with it ( like 12 ) The night Angle series
Sho gun is also fantastic

Already read of the Ender's Game series too. Loved those books. I'll have to look into the others.

I just finished 'Stealing Light' by Gary Gibson... great fuckin cerebral sci-fi. A little cyber punk, a little high science, all fun.

Awesome, I'll definitely check that out. Been reading a lot of the cyberpunk stuff people referred me to years ago lately.

You should read "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss.

HOLY FUCK LOVED THIS WHOLE SERIES SO GOD DAMNED MUCH. A friend of mine turned me onto him last month, I read all 3 of the series in a week, couldn't put it down. DEFINITELY check out the rest of them if you haven't already.

I told my roommate that the first thing on your list of things you'd like to find more of up there was Vonnegut. He said there's nothing quite like Vonnegut. He also says that if you didn't read the newest book from Vonnegut (the book of letters, "We are what we pretend to be"), you should read it because it's awesome. He would also like you to be his friend.

There really isn't. Tom Robbins could almost be the LSD inspired bastard version of him, but I haven't found many other authors that write with their style otherwise.

Also, have not read that collection, I will definitely check it out. And pass on to roommate:

Have you read the Hungry City Chronicles by Reeve? Post-apocalyptic steam punk, 4 books in the series.

http://www.predatorcities.co.uk/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Engines

I got interested in the genre a year or so ago and these were my favorites.

Yup, and most of what followed. I do think I lost track of his releases around book 4 or 5, so I'm sure there's something for me to read there, but I'd almost have to start the series over at this point.
