I want to upgrade to a better graphics card for all these video games that I don't play anymore. But I'm old and dumb and don't know which ones are good.

Looking for something in the $300 - $400 range. Any suggestions?

Here's a cat pushing a watermelon.

In that price range, there simply isn't another card that's gonna give you better performance right now than the 970. I'll be buying one with christmas money.

Don't be silly. The cat just harvests the watermelons from the lake for a meager living.

I swear by EVGA... stay the fuck away from Zotac, PNY, GSkill and similar shitty companies. Lower quality parts and construction coupled with terrible customer service.

EVGA seems to have higher manufacturing standards, has sent me free games, free warranties, and processed rebates quickly.

Gigabyte and MSi have been reliable for me in the past, as well.

I'd been looking at EVGA and Gigabyte with a side of MSi so that works. I've had a Gigabyte motherboard in this machine for the better part of five years and the fucker has been as reliable as any motherboard I've ever had.

I'm actually gonna be building a new machine soon and I am completely out of the loop regarding hardware, it feels weird cuz every other machine I've built has been pretty much "okay I am gonna throw this and this and this in there and now we're done" but this time around it's like "uh i5 I guess?" haha.
